OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel General description:

• The OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel is one of the best values in Waikiki, extraordinary central location on Kalakaua Avenue, next to the International Market Place, home of the “Magic of Polynesia” show and last home of famous “Don Ho” and “Jimmy Buffett’s” restaurant.
  It was built in the 70″s during the hotel construction “craze” where the majority of the Waikiki Hotel’s original structures were erected, changes in the law during the 80′s made it impossible to construct the same density per square foot and that is why all these buildings are renovated and re-renovated again, some times spending more money in these face lifts than it would cost to build them new.
  The OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel is 25 floors tall and has almost 500 rooms, it was independently marketed from the day it opened until the end of 2005 that was taken over by the Outrigger corporation as the OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel, in 2007 the hotel started the first of two phases a profound renovation for several months until it’s conclusion in December of the same year. The second and final phase took place in 2008.
  The OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel houses several restaurants, bars and stores on the second and third floors as well as a Macy’s store on the ground floor. 

What we like about the OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel:

• The central location of the OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel is perfect, whether is your first time in Waikiki or your 10th, everybody gravitates to this area after 5 PM. Next to the International Market Place and across the street from Duke’s restaurant and bar, it does not get any better than that.
• The recent renovation has the OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel rooms felling fresh and new.

What you may not like about the OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel:

• Needless to say, if you do not like to be in the center of things, this place may be not for you, but again, if you are like that, there may be no point in coming to Waikiki in the first place, Oahu has 3 secluded areas with a Hotel, Turtle Bay Resort, Ihilani Resort and Kahala Resort, all three very expensive.
• The OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel has basically 4 different room categories, all rooms were part of the renovation but if you can, try to stay away from the standard rooms, those are smaller than the rest and are located on the lower floors.
• The OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel lobby is on the second floor but there is and escalator from the ground floor as well as elevators, so it should not affect you if you have mobility problems.
