Where to stay in Waikiki ~ Waikiki Shore Hotel
Waikiki Shore Hotel General description:

- Waikiki Shore Hotel
The Waikiki Shore Hotel was built in the year 1960. It has 15 floors totaling 168 rooms. It is located on Waikiki beach between the Outrigger Reef Hotel and a park that is part of the former Randolph Gun Battery now a Military Museum.
- The Waikiki Shore Hotel has a small lobby and common area and no swimming pool or other amenities what makes the property look more like a residential condo than a hotel, it does however have several shops on the ground level towards the beach. All the units have full kitchens and are Studios, one bedrooms or two bedrooms.
- The Waikiki Shore Hotel, like many others in Waikiki, provides parking but it must be paid separately and is very expensive.
- At any given time several different companies manage units at this hotel such as Castle Hotels and Resorts (this is the company that is in charge of the front desk), Outrigger Hotels and several vacation rental companies.
What we like about the Waikiki Shore Hotel:
- The Waikiki Shore Hotel is the only condo with real kitchens on Waikiki beach and you can not ask for a better location since there is only a hand full of buildings on that stretch of beach.
- This Waikiki Shore Hotel is in the middle of what it is slowly but surely turning into a tourist destination within Waikiki.
- The rooms at the Waikiki Shore Hotel tend to be more spacious than a hotel because they were originally built as permanent dwellings rather than transient ones.
- The kitchens in these units at the Waikiki Shore Hotel are a lot better equipped than most other so called kitchens in the Waikiki area.
What you may not like about the Waikiki Shore Hotel:
- Parking is VERY limited and expensive even for hotel guests, so you may want to think again about renting a car.
- Studios tend to be regular size rather than “bigger than normal” that was mentioned above and they also darker than the other units so you may want to stay away from those.
- Based on the hotel’s quality, it should be a lot cheaper than it is but the lack of other alternatives on the beach allows them to get away with charging higher rates.
- At the Waikiki Shore Hotel to reach the lobby form the street you must go through a ramp or stairs what can represent a problem to those with mobility problems.
- The Waikiki Shore Hotel has been properly maintained but has never been thoroughly renovated other than cosmetic, it’s over 40 years old and signs of it’s age can easily be found.
